With train manufacturer Marklin now controlling the
right to the LGB name & products, they expect to ramp up production and
continue the tradition of respect and quality affiliated with the LGB
brand. As of January 01, 2009, Wm. K. Walthers Co. is to become the
exclusive distributor of LGB products in the domestic market. This
should give some guidance and certainty to what will happen to the brand
and its availability in the future. Walthers is considered the master
distributor and although they do sell to end users at MSRP, they will be
supplying hobby retailers and various other suppliers which should
result in a good distribution of LGB products in the future!
Aristocraft Control System
Louis Polk announced an advanced version of the train
engineer wireless control system due to be released in
2009. Called The Revolution, it will employ digital radio frequency
signals that eliminate hardwired connections while expanding accessory
control functions and the ability to independently operate up to fifty
(Yes, 50!!!) locos with a single easily understood handheld unit.
For us PGRSers, it should come as no surprise that our own wizard Dave
has played the key role in developing the revolutionary system over the
past 2 years. Dave's consistent ability to plot & simplify some
extremely advanced technology and harness it all to do wondrous things
in our hobby is taking garden railroading to new levels! Any of you who
are Large Scale On Line (LSOL) members have already gotten the real
inside scoop on this system as well as many other plums in the past.
Those not subscribed to LSOL would be in for a treat if all things
railroad is your bag!
