May has been a very different month for the PGRS. We
surely had our ups and downs. May started off be a very busy
month with us scheduled to do two shows with just two weeks
between them, but due to a water and sewage problem the second
show at the Masonic Lodge in Beallsville had to be canceled due
to our not being able to use the building. I know that a lot of
our PGRS members were very disappointed.
Let’s move on to the positive part. The May Mart Flower Show in
Franklin, Pa, on May 2 & 3 came off without any problems. We did
the show in memory of Roland Davis a long time member of the
PGRS; it was a very successful event, and Sandy Davis, Roland's
wife, appreciated the tribute. Thank you to all that
helped make the show a success. (Please see photos)
I would like to thank Bill & Jill Fallecker for being our hosts
for the show and opening their home to be used as a base for the
club. I would also like to give a special thank you to all our
members who volunteered and made the long drive up to Franklin:
Dave & Lois Bodnar, Ann Celento, Don & Debbie Goodwin, Clark &
Alice Kemmerer, Bill & Claudette Malick, Bruce & Reggie Watkins,
John Weimer, John & Sondra Wiggins + Jack and Danny, and Keith
Baggus. Additional friends and helpers that knew Roland from
Franklin were Bill, Jennifer & Will Cisek, Sandy Davis, Jim &
Any Ivell, Dave, Diane, Jessie & Tanner Shearer and Bryan
Ziegler. Thank you all again, for help making this show a big
Continuing on a positive note Jackie Magri called
on Friday and reported that the
PGRS has received approval to do a 10ft by 20ft display at the
July Greenburg’s train show at the Monroeville Convention
Center. The dates for the show are
July 11&12. We will make plans
for the show at our next meeting in June at the Kemmerer's and
start a volunteers list. If you can’t make the meeting and
want to volunteer please call or e-mail me. Thank you Jackie for
all your hard work, and for being so persistent with the
Greenburg people. This may be the start of us doing the
Greenburg show on regular basis. I hope we get to do the fall
show this November.
Our next meeting will be
Saturday, June 27, 1: PM to???
at the Kemmerer home, 28 North Joslyn Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa

the following categories: G-P snacks or salad; Q-Z main dish (a
vegetable) ; A-F desert or drinks. Please use the first letter

have a favorite dish and it doesn't fall in the group that
you’re in that’s OK, too. Let Clark and Alice know what you
will be bringing. The Kemmerer phone number is (412)795-0524
or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
We are starting
to collect the vests so that the PGRS logo can be put on them.
Please bring your vest to our next meeting in June at the
Kemmerer home. We tried to get them all in one place, so that we
can get all the logos done at one time.
Please make the checks out to PGRS.
Vest or shirts must be in a bag with the name of person and
number of pieces in the bag.
Give embroider item/ items TO ANY CLUB OFFICER; Keith, Tina,

around the house and would like to get the logo placed on it we
can do it. The cost of having anything that is flat embroidered

Under new business Don Goodwin had reported at our April meeting
that he is afraid that we may soon start having major problem
with our ageing trailer. With Don doing all the towing of the
trailer, and all of the maintenance, I feel Don is our authority
on anything concerning the trailer. He would like us to
start a fund raising campaign for its replacement. This is the
second item I would like to cover at the June meeting. Don is
working on what the cost of replacing the trailer would be, and
will give us a report on his finding. I’m looking for Ideas on
how we go about raising the money for a new trailer. We have
some members who have all ready volunteered to help kick off our
fund raising effort by making a donation for replacing the
The last thing I have for this month’s Newsletter is to point
out the article that Dave Bodnar has in the June “Garden
Railways” on building an infrared train detector, and
automatically activate signals and more. The second part
of this article will be in the August issue.
