Wishing you all a basket full of blessings this Easter!
It's April and time to start cleaning up our yards, and getting
our Garden Railways back on track for another season. Last fall
I had my yard looking good, but now after this winter, its needs
a lot of hard work to clean it up. It is hard to believe with
all the tree branches I have in my yard that any of the trees
are left standing, and as for the leaves, I had use my lawn
mower to make mulch for the flower bed, but I have my share of
leaves to start off this spring. I can say that Iím thankful for
the warm weather and Iíve had all the winter I can take, Iím
ready for summer.
At the March meeting we filled out the balance the calendar for
2014, Clark Kemmerer and Alice have volunteered to host the
April meeting on
Sunday April 27, 2PM to 4PM, and
Ed Banks has volunteered to be the backup for November meeting
if we donít get approval to do the Greenbergís Train Show at the
Monroeville Convention Center. If you have not checked out the
calendar for the year, Dave has updated it, take a minute to
look it over. I would like to say thank you to our entire group
of hosts and hostesses, who have come forward and volunteered to
help the club hosting one or more of the meetings thru the year.
I think getting the calendar set for the year is the hardest
part of being your president. Now we can start having fun and
play with our trains.
I would like to thank Gene and Cayll Linck for hosting the March
meeting. As always the covered dish dinner was great success. We
had so much food we could have easily had two more dinners. In
attendance we had Barrie Baker, Ed & Ann Celento, Dave Bodnar,
Bill & Jean Baldwin, Shirley & Allen Hartman, Clark & Alice
Kemmerer, Ed Banks, Bert Mangold, Rich & Ruth Trudel, Don & Deb
Goodwin, Gene & Cayll Linck, Jan Vogt, and Keith Baggus.
Congratulations to Jan Vogt the lucky winner of the 50/50
raffle. Thank you Al Hartman and Deb Goodwin for all your help
in running our 50/50 raffle, I really appreciate the help in
running our 50/50 raffle. This lets me move the meeting on and
start the business part of the meeting. For our new members and
anyone who was forgotten ,the money we take in on the 50/50 is
used for our door prizes that we give away at the Christmas
Banquet. This is a big help in keeping the cost of the banquet
down, and I would like to say thank you to all who participate
in the raffle, this is a big help in making the PGRS the great
club it is.
I would like to say, Thank You Dave Bodnar for the interesting
talk on using our Multi-tester, Dave has given this talk before,
but every time I learn something new. For any of our members who
had missed the meeting or would like to review the information,
Dave is posting it so that we can look it over again at
www.DaveBodnar.com. Dave also told us that if you check out
the Harbor Freight ads they have coupons every so often for a
free tester. Anyone who would like pickup another one, or for
any member who would like to wire a tester into their layout
like Dave had suggested this would be a good way to get one and
the price is right, it free.
Last month we got three new members, please add their names to
your roster and welcome them to the club. Bruce & Reggie Watkins
1522 Buena Street Pittsburgh, Pa 15212, and Ken Maglietta 378
Brush Run Road Claysville, Pa 15323
Our next meeting will be at Kemmererís 28 Joslyn Drive
Pittsburgh, Pa 15235.
Sunday April 27, 2014 from 2PM to 4PM.
Clark and Alice are very happy to be back in their home, after
someone parked his car in the living room of their house the day
before Thanksgiving. They have been camped out in a motel until
the day before our March meeting, like Dorothy said in ďThe
Wizard of OzĒ there no place like home, there no place like
home. We are all are glad youíre back in your home and looking
forward to seeing youíre newly rebuilt house.
Alice would like to have a covered dish dinner for this meeting,
and Clark and Alice will supplied a ham, Alice is asking us to
bring the other goodies for our meal in the following
categories: A-F Main dish, G-P dessert, Q-Z Snacks or salad,
Please use the first letter of your last name to know what
category you fall in. If you have a favorite dish and it doesnít
fall in the group that youíre in thatís OK too. Just let Clark
and Alice know what you will be bringing and how many are
coming. The Kemmererís phone number is
(412)795-0524 and e-mail
firstname.lastname@example.org The Kemmererís home is handicapped
accessible. Clark is working on having someone to give a talk on
plants to be used on our railroads. Clark would like to have a
plant swap so if any of our member are staring to clean up their
yards and thin out the plants for the summer and would like to
share any extra plants this would be a great time to get a jump
on summer, also if you have some little trick or tricks you use
in your garden, and have been successful with in using and would
like to share with the group that would be great too.

of an open house to show off their train display or garden, and
would like to have some of the clubs brochures to pass out

brochures or bring some to the next meeting for you to pass out.
