As the old song goes ďItís starting to look a lot like Christmas
everywhere you go". But now itís starting to look that way the
day after Labor Day in the stores. They started putting out
Christmas items, and I have a neighbor who has started lighting
his Christmas lights the day after Halloween, and 3ws has been
playing Christmas music for about a week they started November
18. I find it amazing that there are Christmas stores open all
year. I long for the days when the Christmas season didnít start
until the day after Thanksgiving and you didnít have to be at
the stores at
midnight to get the best deal. I
guess Iím just old fashioned. But on another note, I did make
the reservations for our Christmas Dinner at ďPeters PlaceĒ back
in February just to make sure that we got the date we wanted so
I was just as bad in rushing the season itís just the way it is
now a days. I love the Christmas season it is a special time
when we make time to see our family, friends, and neighbors
I would like to thank Jan Vogt for hosting the November meeting.
Jan did a great job on the snacks, and drinks for the meeting
.There was plenty of good food. Jan gave a talk on different
types of buildings and how to weather them with a paint wash.
Jan always has some good ideas on general crafts for us to use
with our railroad lay outs. Jan also had a 60% off sale on
items left over from the closing of her store, Brentwood
Station. The last thing we did was set up an assembly line to
help Ann Celento mail out the invitations for our Anniversary
and Christmas Dinner and membership dues notice.
In attendance at the November meeting were Ed & Ann Celento, Al
& Shirley Hartman, Donald & Debra Goodwin, David & Lois Bodnar,
Ed Banks, Jan Vogt, Jack Pyle, and Keith Baggus.
Congratulations to Ed Banks the lucky winner of the 50/50. Thank
you Al for all your help in running our 50/50 raffle.
Our next meeting will be PGRS 19th Anniversary and
Saturday December 7, at Peters
Place 1199 Washington Pike Bridgeville, Pa 15017. Appetizers and
6:00 PM and all you can eat
buffet Dinner at
7:00PM. Reservations are a must!

As in the past we will have our election for officers at the
dinner for the coming year 2014, as it stands now we have on the
ballot Keith Baggus is running for president, Don Goodwin for
Vice president, Ann Celento for treasurer, Jan Vogt for
Our first meeting for 2014 will be a planning meeting for the
year, Ann Celento had volunteered to host this meeting at her
church and weíll have the time and date in the next newsletter.
2014 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the PGRS if
you have any ideas to help make this year be an extra special
year for the club please share your thoughts so that we can talk
about them, Iím also looking for anyone who would like to host
a monthly meeting if you have a special month please let me know
and weíll get it on the calendar. One idea we are talking about
is to have a reunion meeting or picnic and send out invitations
to all of our past members to attend that meeting, and ask if
they have any old photos they could bring for a show and tell or
if they have any stories they would like to share about the
club. If they canít make it to that meeting maybe they can write
up the story and we can use it in the newsletter.
December is a time to look back at the past year and do some
reflection on what all has happened in one short year. We
remember sadly the pasting of friends and members Paul Stewart
and Roland Davis they are greatly missed and we keep their
family in our prayers. When our hearts are empty, we try to fill
them with happy memories. I would like to said thank you to all
who have hosted meetings this past year. First there was Dick
and Jean Fornwalt they hosted the March meeting, Alycefaye
Stewart hosted the April meeting. Don Goodwin hosted the show we
did in Beallsville for May, and then Don and Debra Goodwin
hosting the June meeting and a special thank you to Don for all
the work that he did on the trailer. Don saved the club a lot of
money and did some much needed repairs and maintenance on the
trailer. I would like to thank all who went on our bus/train
trip in July, and helped to make it a big success. A big thank
you to Al and Shirley Hartman for hosting the PGRS Family picnic
in August. Lee and Regina Brandes for hosting the September
meeting, Ed Banks hosting the October meeting and showing off
his new layout and again thank you to Jan Vogt for hosting the
November meeting. I would like to say a very special thank you
to Dave Bodnar for all his help with the newsletter each month,
if I didnít have Dave helping me the club would be still be
looking for our first newsletter of the year, also helping with
the newsletter is Bill Baldwin. Keep up the good work
Bill. Thanks to Jackie Magri, she has worked so hard in our
efforts in trying to getting us back in with the Greenburgís
Train and start doing the shows again this year. The great
people in our club that volunteer their time and talents is what
helps make our club a great club.
Last I would like to ask all our member to take a minute at the
Christmas Dinner, and say thank you to our officers for all the
work that they do for the club. Just in case you donít know who
they are Dick Fornwalt Secretary, Ann Celento Treasurer, Donald
Goodwin Vice president, and respectfully submitted, your
President Keith Baggus.
Hoping your days are filled with true friends, and precious
memories. May the magic and wonder of Christmas bless your home
and bring you peace in the New Year.
